Here I Go Again!

Those of you who have known me for awhile know that I have a way of finding things to do with myself when the pace of life gets a little too slow for my liking. And as much as I am loving the married life (all except the cooking and cleaning part)... I've found myself a little bit bored lately. SO... since Eric is having to devote the majority of his time to "the books"... I have decided, "if you can't beat him, join him"!

I start classes May 9th.

Yep - that's right - I'm going back to school (again). I actually tried this once before (about 4 1/2 years ago). For many good reasons (the greatest of which being the school happened to lose it's accreditation), I quit. And while I despise looking up research articles and writing responses on them... along with having a bit of test anxiety... I'm pretty sure now is the time to give it all a second chance.

I will be working towards my Masters as a Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist with an endorsement in Nursing Education. My only real goal in all this is to one day be able to teach at the college level. That will likely be a ways down the road, but I figure there is more time for school now, then later. In the fall I will be working as an Adjunct Professor for Pediatric clinicals at Indiana Wesleyan University where I graduated, and I'm really excited about it. I have always known that one day I would love to teach - and this is all a step in the right direction. I will still be working full time night shifts in the NICU, but that is in part why I'm diving in now... things get a little quiet around 3am sometimes and I might as well make use of it!!

SO that's the update! I'm pretty excited at the moment! (Ask me how I feel in about 3 weeks...) I asked Eric if he would buy me a new backpack, some pencils, and a new lunch box.... He shot all those down pretty quick, so I tried for new school clothes instead! (Never mind the fact that most of my courses are entirely online.) Needless to say my closet has not had any new additions. (Help Jess) :)

Wish me luck!

For the record... I offered her one of my old backpacks and some pencils that had some chew marks. Who said I wasn't generous. Oh, and I also have an old pac-man lunch box from 3rd grade... real metal... not this plastic junk they make these days, and some kick-butt 3 ring binders with only part of the plastic cover missing. I'll keep looking for more things Meg.

Meg, that's so exciting! Good luck! I know you'll be great. But... you definitely need to go shopping for new school supplies and clothes. That's one of the greatest perks of going back to school ;)

You GO GIRL !!! And don't forget that your old mom finally finished her Bachelor's Degree at the seasoned age of 50. It gets more fun the older you are...and you get better grades.

Let's see....I have a really cute red, white and blue T-shirt you might like to wear on your first day of classes.....Really cute!!!

Love you...Me.

That's a big negative on the shirt. One day of humiliation was quite enough!

As for the better grades when your older... I'm not so sure I'm the type to live up to that. Besides... since Eric's in school too... I wouldn't want to threaten his masculinity or anything by showing him up in grades. He's still trying to accept that I can now whoop his toosh at ping pong!! Gotta let the man win at something!!!

PS - Please tell me Mother, that you do NOT still have that shirt in your closet.

(Those of you who have missed out on the now famous photograph... scroll back through the blogs to the baby pictures I posted of myself. There's a real beauty of my entire family in matching snazzy garb)

It's in my closet, washed and ready to wear. That would be my size 16 ladies...which has shrunken over the years of washing.

The children's size 6 and 10 are being saved for YOUR children to wear whenever they choose to make their presence known. I love passing down cherished family heirlooms for generations to treasure.

Any chance Eric would like to try Dad's cranberry polyester leisure pants??? Can't beat the price. And it could make for a real "bonding experience" for Dad and Eric.!!

Love to you both, Me.

Not a chance! Besides... I already have a baby blue leisure suit ready and waiting for the perfect moment.

You all made my night- you are the funniest family out there! Meg it is soooo perfect to start school up now! You will be so glad you did this! It makes me think I need to make a decision on more schooling too. The more online stuff you can get out of the way- the better. It is so neat you can teach with the prof's at IWU!! How long did it take to arrange that?? KNOWING YOU- they would do anything to have you around again!! GO MEG!!
